  • A Time for Politics.

“Man is by nature a political animal.” -Aristotle

With the election coming up on November, I think its time to reflect on my political observations of this past year.

    Primaries
During the primaries I was a strong supporter of Hilary Clinton. In my mind this was supposed to be Hillary’s year but then a relatively unknown senator from Illinois came up and stole the show. I was all for Hillary being the first female president and inspiring women to succeed. I believed she had better qualifications to become president. But Obama ultimately won.
You can read more about my view on Hillary and Obama in my old entry http://weblog.xanga.com/xlcrmlx/643557307/indecision-2008-demographics.html

    General Election
Coming off the primaries I was relatively bitter over the Clinton loss and threw my support for McCain (This was before Palin was selected as VP). I supported McCain even though my views differed from his on abortion, stance on gay marriage (No on Prop 8!), and certain economic policies. I believed that McCain would be an effective leader with his years of service to our nation through his career in the Navy and his career in Washington. I have great respect for veterans and service men and women serving our country. And also the fact that in the 2004 election McCain was being considered being Kerry’s running mate helped make my decision to support him.

But then Sarah Palin came in the picture. It was a great political move that could potentially steal some distempered Hillary supported away from Obama. It gave the McCain campaign a bump in polls during that time. After the media frenzy shed more light on the relatively unknown Palin, I became concerned that if McCain became president and something happened to him Palin would be President. That scares me. I mean she’s a pitbull with lipstick and a right wing nut! (And hot ). So I now support Obama/Biden. I guess I was one of those bitter Clinton supporters who jumped ship to McCain after she lost.

And don’t believe all the Obama is promoting socialism crap, what he means by “Spreading the wealth” is putting more tax burden on the wealthier citizens than regular joes like us. I mean they can afford it, we can’t. With how things are looking now, I think Obama is going to win. But you never know, polls aren’t exact all the time but I think its a pretty safe bet that he will win.

For SF and CA. Vote Yes on V! No on 8!

Sorry if none of this is coherent, I wrote this while watching The Daily Show and Colbert Report.
