ehh i dun like any of those cuts. emerald cut, platinum band, at least a 50k ring . aren’t dudes supposed to spend 1/4 of their yearly salary? hmmm yea, so 50k is probs on the lower side there . but I’m a modest girl, I’d probs leave the ring at home except for special occasions and just wear a simple platinum wedding band.
i don’t know because i sure don’t. hmm.
I think it’s more about the meaning behind it… you know, what the ring represents in terms of a relationship. But they’re also sparkly! And expensive, which means it requires a bit of sacrifice to buy one.
But money definitely isn’t everything. A huge diamond doesn’t make up for being an asshole.
Someone can propose to me with a pair of dunks (tiffanys to be exact) and I would be okay with it.
I don’t know about girls. I’m guessing it’s the whole “diamonds are forever’ ploy.
I like them because they are the hardest material, and they were born of something low — carbon; but under extreme pressure and heat (suffering and pain, I like to think), they were made into something beautiful.
I wear diamonds inconspicuously. On my tie bars and on my cufflinks, for example.
Because they are sparkly, pretty, and cost a lot of money. Mum and I are going to the new Cartier exhibit at the Legion of Honor tomorrow. What a suiting entry. Hehe ;)
lol well i’m not sure actually. Isn’t the rule of thumb 1/4 of a years salary? if I’m going to marry someone who makes just as or more than me…divided by 4…that’s about 70k. so 50k is a steal! I mean in the end, I’ll have to look at how large of a diamond that is…and I’ll make the judgement call then. I dun like things toooo chunky
They’re shiny.
they are a girls best friend
they sparkle.
I lost one of my diamond earrings this morning. Thanks for reminding me.
@wonderland7386 - so you’d rather he spend $ money on a ring than a down payment on a house?!?!?
Me personally it was never about the size it was about the quality of the diamond. No point in having a big diamond when it’s cloudy
Wow minimum of 200k/year for a bf/fiance eh? That’s a nice requirement to have I guess.
Anyways, who knows? Maybe cause it’s shiny and expensive.
dont ask me i’m just a girl!
but seriously i dont get it either..
I dont know… its a materialistic thing. I never Wanted a ring, just to be proposed to. but I got one anyways. and I do cherish it and love it because of what it means. and I only like my ring, because he gave it to me and proposed to me with it.
Diamonds are pretty they symbolize things like eternity Diamonds are sparkly and shiney diamonds cost a lot of money they are rare THey are materialistic but also romantic. they have traditions with engagement and how much the man would “value” her. i dunno stuff like that
the reason why girls like them is because it was socialized thru our culture and traditions. I bet you it couldve been another stone or object… like pearls or even just gold.. or even a rock or bouquet… Other cultures value them differently
I like shiney things don’t get me wrong….but I think pretty ice scultptures are more to look at and ARE looked at longer than a diamond..
I think diamonds are okay. When I get married, I don’t want a huge rock on my finger though. And I don’t want something super expensive either.

@ThePseudoHousewife - ^^ exactly!
cos they’re sparkly
i don’t like diamonds. they’re too shiny.
When I get married, I wouldn’t want a huge sparkly rock, just something pretty and simple would suit me perfectly fine.
@ThePseudoHousewife - welllll, you have your whole life to pay for a house. you only get one shot at an engagement ring ><
they’re shinny and pretty! =]
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVAA
its elegant and pretty.
I guess I’m a different kind of girl. Why spend so much $ on a rock when you can be spending it on a car/car parts!!
@pookachi - i agree!! car parts!!
haha
hey i forgot to tell you i was at victoria gardens in rancho last weekend!
@her_extravagance - lol rancho! isn’t victoria gardens hella pretty??
@arenadi - I agree with MC here, but I don’t wear cufflinks.
If I didn’t get one I wouldn’t mind. Jade is more symbolic for me.
